über.gameX 2007 was held for the 4th time in GIKI with the highest prize money in Pakistan. We were there as the exclusive sponsor and as idle spectators. Who knew egaming would have become a spectator sport in Pakistan?

ByteSense Exclusively Sponsors über.gamex 2007

über.gameX is an All Pakistan Cyber Gaming Tournament hosted annually by Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institutes (GIKI) Student Networking Society NETRONiX.

This year, über.gameX was held on 16th to 18th November 2007 with 150 participants from all over Pakistan competed against each other in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (2v2), Defense Of The Ancients (Mod: Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne] 5v5, Counter-Strike 1.6 (5v5), Quake III: Team Death Match (2v2) and Pro-Evolution Soccer 6 (1v1).

Because of ByteSense's long affiliation with GIKI (both founder are 2004 graduates) and a large alumni working at ByteSense, we decided to sponsor über.gameX exclusively. We had a wonderful time at GIKI on ügx and can't wait to sponsor it again next year.

Around 100,000 rupees of total prize money was given out, the highest ever in Pakistan. The following were the winners of ügx:

  1. DoTA winners - GIKI - Rs. 35,000/-
  2. CS winners - Lahore Grammar School - Rs. 45,000/-
  3. Quake 2v2 DM - Fast Islamabad - Rs 10,000/-
  4. WC3 1v1 - Warlord - Rs. 5,000/-
  5. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (1v1) - National University of Science and Technology - Rs. 5,000/-

You can find event follow ups, pictures, replays and more at the official website.

NETRONiX is a student society at GIKI and manages Pakistan's largest institutional network with more than 1000 nodes, dozens of servers and buildings connected via fiber optics. Umar Farooq served as president of NETRONiX from 2003-2004.
